Ingredients:
Cocktail
o 1 teaspoon grated ginger
o 2 ½ ounces Johnnie Walker
Black Label scotch
o 1 teaspoon Monte Alban
mezcal
o ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
o ¾ ounce Ginger Honey
Syrup (see: Syrups etc.)
Garnish
o candied ginger
Method:
1. Muddle ginger in a
cocktail shaker.
2. Add ice and remaining
cocktail ingredients except
mezcal and shake to chill.
3. Strain into an ice-filled
Old-Fashioned glass.
4. Float mezcal on top of
drink.
5. Garnish with candied
ginger.
Comments:
The classic recipe calls for 2
ounces blended scotch and 1½
ounces Laphroaig 10-Year-Old
Islay single malt scotch for its
smokiness. But if it’s smoky
you’re after, and you don’t
want to start an exotic scotch
collection, try the above.
