The Upside-Down Manhattan

Ingredients:

Cocktail

o ¼ ounce Pernod Absinthe

Supérieure

o 1 ounce Heaven’s Door

Straight Rye whiskey

o ¼ ounce Fernet~Branca

o 2 ½ ounces Lillet Rouge

o 1 dash Sambuca Romano

o 1 dash Hella Orange bitters

or to taste

Garnish

o orange peel


Method:

1. Swirl absinthe to coat the

inside of a cocktail glass and

discard excess.

2. Stir remaining cocktail

ingredients over ice in a

mixing glass.

3. Serve up in the prepared

glass.

4. Express orange peel over

the drink and drop it in for

garnish.


Comments:

The result of inverting the rye

to vermouth ratio and the

addition of a little something

extra makes for a totally

different Manhattan cocktail.

One that is tasty in its own

right and that also goes very

well with food.
